Ourlads' Profile:
2020 Guide: What Ourlads' Scouting Services said about JONATHAN GARVIN: Miami, 6040 263 4.82. Junior entry, two-year starter, Lake Worth, FL. Had a breakout season in 2018 with 17.5 tackles for loss, five sacks, and five pass breakups. He didn’t quite match that level of production as a junior in 2019 but he still flashed the upside that will fit into any edge role the NFL demands. He has the body and movement capability to provide a scary and versatile skill set, but needs to add more consistent playing strength and weight before he can be an every-down player. Garvin has quality starter potential. Long and angular build with the frame that will handle more weight over time. Sprinter-type movement in space with long strides. Can chase down the action, eating up a lot of space with just a few steps. Rangy player that makes a lot of plays away from the starting point. Shows nice pop and body positioning out of his stance. Can play a speed game but can alter his ego on the fly and play the power game. His twitch and explosion can be turned into power. Good instincts when it comes to defeating one-on-one blocking. Lacks the powerful base to anchor himself against straight ahead run blocking. Late to get hands on blockers with a good grip. In need of an overall uptick in playing strength and contact presence. 2019 stats: 37 T, 9 TFL, 5 sacks, 4 QBH, 2 FF. Edge speed:left 2.09, right 2.08. OSR:8/25. Fifth/sixth round. (A-34, H-9 5/8, BP-23, 10-1.68).
