Ourlads' Profile:
2018 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about DEON CAIN: Clemson, 6017 202 4.44. Junior entry and two-year starter from Tampa, FL. A good combination of speed and size, playing both inside and outside receiver. Cain has good arm length and frame for the position. He possesses good straight line speed to create separation on go routes. Long stride that allows him to deceptively run by defenders. Uses savvy hand play to try and control the defender before the catch while making an adjustment to the ball. Good timing and feel for the defender when attacking the ball on all three route levels. Squares his shoulders and finds a way to get to the ball. Makes catches in tight spaces consistently with a good success rate. Has some run after catch ability using good vision and balance to work his way for extra yardage. Has some stiffness to his body. Doesn’t possess elite top end speed to run with fastest defensive backs. Upright in his releases versus press man. Not a refined route runner. Has some focus drops. Gets pushed off his route and crowded at times by the defensive backs which affects his path and timing with the quarterback. Doesn’t run his routes with great suddenness and is kind of leggy in his transitions. Small hands for his size. Has a good blend of speed and size that can be effective on a full route tree. Has potential as a receiver but has a low floor and will most likely have to help out on special teams while he develops. 2017 stats: 58-734, 12.7 ypr, 6 TD. OSR:12/45. Fifth/sixth round. (A-33, H-8 3/4, VJ-33.5, SS-4.37).
