For a team that looks awfully good on paper all across the board, the Rams still have more than a handful of needs they will try and address later this month with no specific need looking more apparent than another. Therefore, the Rams are in good shape to take the best available players with all eight of their draft selections.
Cornerback
With both starting cornerbacks in their 30’s, this could be the team’s top pick. Especially since Ahkello Witherspoon has only played an entire season once in eight seasons and missed four or more games in six of them. Darious Williams is 32 and missed five games early last season after injuring his hamstring in camp last July. The depth has some solid talent but none of them are legitimate impact defenders. What this team really needs from this draft class is a future No. 1 cornerback.
Inside Linebacker
Last year, General Manager Les Snead made another excellent post draft signing with the addition of Omar Speights. But with leading tackler Christian Rozeboom gone and Troy Reeder unsigned, the Rams need to add a starting caliber linebacker to this unit. The newly signed Nate Landman is not enough.
Tight End
Lots of teams will be trying to take advantage of this year’s deep tight end class, and the Rams could be one of those teams looking to strike while these prospects are hottest. Tyler Higbee has been a true warrior over his nine seasons here, but he finally endured a long-term injury that forced him to miss most of the 2024 season. While his impact was immediately noticeable upon his return, he is not what you would call a ‘weapon’, and neither are the other two tight ends on the roster. Adding a prospect like Harold Fannin Jr. might be what this offense needs the most out of this draft.
Wide Receiver
If the team fails to add a tight end in the draft, they could instead opt to land a big X receiver to help open up the field for Matthew Stafford. Jayden Higgins would be a good pickup and a bonus due to his size. Look for Jordan Whittington to break out soon, but that isn’t his specialty.
Quarterback
Even though this position could end up as one of their third-round selections, finding premium talent to try and win another championship is more important right now unless the right prospect lands on their laps.
