Ourlads' Profile:
2018 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about DEONTAY BURNETT: Southern Cal, 5115 186 4.50. Junior entry and one-year starter from Compton, CA. An average size slot receiver with a thin frame but a very tough pound for pound athlete. Has quick and nimble feet. Good acceleration and burst into the routes. Creates separation with above average acceleration and good feet. Has quick hands. Works the sideline very well with skilled foot work. Finds the holes versus zone very well. Not afraid to work over the middle of the field. Instinctive to uncover on scramble plays. Has some juking ability and elusiveness to his run after catch repertoire. Doesn’t however, run his routes with great crispness or smart angles. Lacks route strength. His thin frame allows defensive backs to control him in jump ball scenarios. Ultimately is quicker than fast and doesn’t separate consistently on deeper routes. Has really small hands. Contact when making contested catches forced a lot of incompletions against him. A tough athlete who is not afraid to make the necessary play. At this point he doesn’t have measurables to be a full time starter. 2017 stats: 86-1114, 13 ypr, 9 TD. Medical exclusion at Combine, left hamstring. Sixth/seventh round. (A-31 1/2, H-8 5/8, VJ-DNP, SS-DNP).
