Ourlads' Profile:
2022 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about TARIQ CARPENTER:
Georgia Tech, 6026 231 4.55. Four-year starter, Ludowici, GA. Will likely make a position move from safety to linebacker, a move he made at the Senior Bowl. Has an impressive frame to mold, coupled with a twitchy, explosive lower half. His play style, hustle, and versatility could land a team a day three player who far exceeds expectations. He is a guy who can handle more weight and appears to be an ideal matchup for athletic pass catching tight ends. He is a project worth pursuing and his impressive week at the Senior Bowl confirmed the notion. Has the room for more functional muscle mass. Explosive get-off from a standstill position gives him the necessary lateral range to play a credible sideline to sideline. Quality, twitchy movement across the board. Plays with sudden feet that naturally evolve into long strides with smooth acceleration. Active, strong hands with long arms can broaden his tackle radius and promote upside in fending off blockers. Coverage skill set can be a strength from the second level. Has the speed and size to handle tight ends. Fiery player that plays with some extra attitude. Does not show enough feel in zone coverage. Plays slow and high out of his backpedal. Will lose balance when he needs to turn his hips. Too many recovery steps. Will be learning a new position. Does not play with proper spacing or angles when shifting through inside traffic.
