Ourlads' Profile:
2020 Guide: What Ourlads' Scouting Services said about THAKARIUS KEYES: Tulane, 6007 202 4.50. Two-year starter, Laurel, MS. Honorable mention All-AAC in 2019. Impressive length for a corner. Has played press and off man along with Cover 3, 2 and quarters. Has experience with press, press and bail in quarters. In press hard corner uses arm length to punch with a stiff off-hand jam. Plays with reactive footwork on initial movement. Normally does not give up leverage and can cut off route breaks. Has used both collision/react and trail technique. Length helps playing underneath as it can get him to the catch point. Solid eye discipline in press and trail. In off coverage, flashes controlled backpedal with solid cushion. Effective turn and run when cushion breaks. Can be physical tackling but struggles to gather and is prone to arm tackles and occasional misses. Inconsistent spacing in off coverage as he will align too deep or shallow. Lacks consistent discipline in initial movement as he can quickly shuffle or get upright and hop. At times loses leverage at the line putting him in catch up mode early in the route. Vulnerable to double moves as at times false steps and raises up. Make up speed is questionable against elite receivers. Length is attractive in the right scheme, but there are fundamental issues along with speed questions. 2019 stats: 47 T, 5 PBU, 1 INT. No Combine workout-his choice. Seventh round/PFA. (A-32 5/8, H-8 3/4, VJ-36, SS-DNP).
