Kansas | H: 6023 W: 244 40: 4.62 A: 3238 H: 0914 W: 7578
Three-year starter, Cincinnati, OH. Transferred to Kansas for his final season after spending three seasons at Miami (OH). Second-team All-Big 12 this past season, second-team All-MAC in 2021 and third-team All-MAC in 2020. Plays on the edge and will typically align over an inline tight end when present. He is physical when engaged and uses his active hands to fight and disengage. Shows solid functional strength on contact to create some knockback. Quick to recognize blocking schemes and react accordingly. Versus zone flow away, will sprint down line-of-scrimmage and catch running backs from behind. Finds his most success as a pass rusher when he widens offensive tackles and gives an inside move, such as his spin and swim moves. Will stack moves on top of each other in order to win in pass rush; has stacked inside moves on top of each other to tighten the tackle before speed rushing off the edge. Shows proper form when making open-field tackles and runs through contact to limit yards-after-contact. Lacks consistent burst off the line due to a slow first step. Plays with a high pad level and gets stood up frequently. Needs to land his hands with better timing in order to win leverage. Can get overpowered by tight ends and washed out of plays. He lacks key athletic traits that hinder his movement. Tight hips hinder change of direction and he struggles to bend off the edge and corner properly. He stalls out in pass rush too often and needs to utilize his arsenal of moves more often. Lacks the athletic ability to be effective when dropping in coverage. Needs to improve his motor and show more effort in pursuit.
