Ourlads' Profile:
2021 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about DEONTE BROWN: Alabama, 6032 364 5.57. Three-year starter, Decatur, AL. Earned first-team All SEC honors in 2020. He is an absolute mauler who could hold his ground against an 18-wheeler rolling down hill. Absorbs contact like it’s nothing and shows some twitch in tight spaces. He will be one of the heaviest players in the NFL, but one can question if he has too much bad weight that inhibits necessary movement traits for the position. He is lethargic in space and simply doesn’t adjust well to late, sudden, lateral movement up front. He is a non-factor in space. Needs a gap-blocking scheme and even then, he will have to clean up the body and footwork if he wants to be anything more than a backup. Has the presence of a wall against straight ahead rushers. Big time power generated from his hands. Rolls his hips post-contact and will build off the initial advantage. Dominant flashes in a gap run blocking role. Can handle himself on an island in pass protection if the action is in front of him. Really sluggish when he gets out into space. Has a hard time putting the brakes on and altering his direction. Way too late in space as a blocker on screens. Needs to be kept inside and protected. Won’t get to his points as a lateral blocker. Has good brute strength but his punch lacks explosion. Sixth/seventh round. (A-32 3/8, H-9 1/8, BP-NA, 10-1.96).
