Ourlads' Profile:
2022 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about MATT CORRAL:
Mississippi, 6015 212 4.75. Three-year starter, Ventura, CA. First-team All-SEC, a Manning Award finalist, and Maxwell Award and O’Brien Award semi-finalist last season. Shows a knack for slipping away from pressure in tight spots. A fiercely competitive football player, Corral is an extremely aggressive runner and at times, nearly almost as aggressive as a decision maker. Tends to not be as accurate with throws when on the move and after being forced to rest his feet. Showed a tendency to be indecisive under duress, taking too many unnecessary sacks rather than risk a bad ball. Limited deep ball velocity. While he has the athletic ability to challenge defenses with scrambling ability, he often chooses to attempt to reset as a passer rather than to challenge downfield defenders as a runner. Holds deep balls longer than he should, and will have to release them sooner in the NFL as to not under throw his targets. Places and aims underneath throws. Played in a run/pass option and play-action heavy college system, however he displayed the ability to throw from various platforms and to make many NFL caliber throws. Runs more violent than a quarterback is expected to, and will need to quickly learn to protect himself when running the ball and to leave some yardage on the field rather than taking big hits. Triggers throws through good weight transfer. Has good lower body mechanics, and has a quick trigger. Experienced a lot of drops that negatively impacted his completion percentage. Shows the touch and aggressiveness to consistently work between different levels of NFL coverages.
2021 stats: 262/386, 3349 yds, 67.9%, 20 TD, 5 INT, 614 yds rushing, 11 TD, 155.3 QB rating. First/second round. (A-30 3/4, H-9 5/8, VJ-DNP, SS-DNP).
