Ourlads' Profile:
2022 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about ABRAM SMITH:
Baylor, 5113 213 4.48. Two-year starter, Abilene, TX. Has the versatility to have spent time starting on both sides of the ball, running back last fall and linebacker the previous season. A patient yet physical runner, who thrived in Baylor’s zone running scheme. Good contact balance, and a powerful violent finisher. Decisive cuts on interior runs, a natural feel for cutback lanes on inside zone. Struggles to feel lanes develop and to anticipate cuts on outside run plays. Presses the line and sets up blockers for success. A straight-line runner with limited moves and creativity in the open field. A prototypical zone back. Has experience with special teams, especially with cover teams. Struggled with technique, foot placement, and balance in pass protection, however plays to his physicality and size as a blocker. Lacks burst out of cuts, and at times decelerates to make cuts in the open field. Tight-hipped linear running style limits his scheme fit to inside zone teams. Will look to punish defenders at point of contact. Has a one speed running style. Best fit is as a committee back. Highly productive on inside zone plays, tends to make defenders tackle his pads not his frame.
2021 stats: 1601 yds, 6.2 ypc, 12 TD. Fourth/fifth round. (A-30 1/4, H-8 1/4, BP-13, SS-4.40).
