Ourlads' Profile:

2022 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about CARSON WELLS:

Colorado, 6026 243 4.80. Four-year starter, Bushnell, FL. Second-team All-Pac 12 the last two years. Possesses good length with a muscular frame. Displays ability to set the edge using functional strength and hand violence when engaging. Powerful when attacking, he shoots his hands and muscles blockers with strong hands to stack and shed. Shows decent first step quickness and plays at a good pad level rushing the passer. Keeps coming in the pass rush with outstanding second effort, he doesn’t stay blocked. Shows tackling ability with solid form. He runs through contact to finish. Above average range in pursuit, his relentless effort allows him to chase ball carriers downfield. Shows a knack for flat coverage with ability to read the quarterback and get in the throwing lane. Lateral movement and agility is a plus reacting to the throw. Has shown ball skills for the interception with some big plays under his belt. Can be slow to separate from a block and this often shows in the pass rush. Lacks the consistent burst to get around the edge. Many of his sacks are the result of second effort and coverage. Slow to disengage from a block, he relies too much on muscle. Needs to develop a better rush plan with counters. Lacks the size and burst of a dominant edge defender and may have to move off the ball. He has some tools and his motor will give him a shot to develop.

2021 stats: 51 T, 13.5 TFL, 5.5 sacks, 4 PBU, 7 QBH, 1 FF, 1 INT (1 TD). Seventh round/PFA. (A-32 1/8, H-9 1/4, BP-16, SS-4.56).
