Ourlads' Profile:

2016 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about SCOOBY WRIGHT: Arizona, 5116 239 4.75. Junior entry from Windsor, CA. Three-year starter, 29 total games. In 2014 he turned in one of the most prolific defensive seasons in NCAA history, winning the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, the Rotary Lombardi Award, and the Chuck Bednarik Award, all given annually to the nation’s top defender, the Pat Tillman Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year, ranked in the top five among FBS players for total tackles (163), tackles for loss (29), sacks (14), and forced fumbles (6), was Arizona’s sixth unanimous All-America, and All- Pac 12 first team. He only played in three games this past season after suffering a torn meniscus in his left knee in the Texas-San Antonio game in September. Good read and react with instincts to make big plays. Aggressive attacking downhill and fitting inside gaps. Quick with his hands on the move warding off blocks along with maintaining knee bend. Is normally a solid fundamental tackler. Has solid blitz skills timing getting into the gap at the snap and closing. Has a knack for making big plays by going back door on a block and stopping it before it gets going. Good lateral movement and decent agility in a short space. Relentless in pursuit and his quickness gives him above average range. Has the athleticism to drop in coverage in the short zones. Not the best cover linebacker, partly because in the scheme he blitzes more often than covers. Extended speed is questionable. He will be overaggressive at times and miss a tackle, overrun or get washed out of the play. Due to the scheme he rarely has to take a blocker straight on so his power to stack and shed is questionable. A throwback to the traditional Mike backer who is protected by the tackles and make plays from tackle-to-tackle. Has average size for the position and the aggressiveness and athletic ability to make it work. It is questionable if he has the skill and aptitude to make the coverage drops and reactions necessary. Extremely productive and can help a team at inside linebacker in a 3-4 or as a 4-3 Mike. 2015 stats: 23 T, 3.5 TFL, 2 sacks in 3 games. Edge speed:left 2.06, right 2.24. OSR:12/14. Fourth/fifth round. (A-30 1/2, H-9 3/4, BP-22, SS-4.47).
