Ourlads' Profile:
2018 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about SIMMIE COBBS JR.: Indiana, 6031 220 4.67. Junior entry and two-year starter from Oak Park, IL. Was a medical red-shirt in 2016. Cobbs is a big outside receiver. Has elite ball skills and is a red zone threat. Big game versus Ohio State in week one of 2017 where he caught 11 receptions for 149 yards and one touchdown. Does a good job using his frame and size to body up and create separation from defensive backs. Good upper body strength allows him to handle smaller defensive backs throughout the route. He puts hands on defensive back while the ball is in the air to control defensive back while he makes his adjustment. Savvy planning late adjustments on the ball not giving the defensive back time to react. Tracks the ball with good ability. Has very good body control and core to make contested acrobatic catches. Great concentration when hauling in the deep ball. Shows footwork along the sideline and end zone backline to get feet down. Gives good effort as a blocker in the run game. Doesn’t separate very well. Exposed chest at the line of scrimmage gives him issues versus press man corners. Has too many focus drops. Some stiffness and his big frame makes it difficult to dig out low throws. His routes are leggy and lack crispness. Top end speed is lacking and he can’t get over the top of the defense very well. Overall, Cobbs has an NFL frame and size with elite ball skills. However his lack of suddenness and route running ability make him more of project. 2017 stats: 72-841, 11.7 ypr, 8 TD. OSR:40/45. Fifth/sixth round. (A-32, H-9 1/4, VJ-30, SS-4.32).
