Ourlads' Profile:

2016 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about CARDALE JONES: Ohio State, 6050 253 4.78. Junior entry from Cleveland, OH. Caught the scouts’ eye in 2014 when he won three games, including the national championship over Oregon after replacing injured starters Braxton Miller and JT Barnett. Jones is 11-0 as a starter, but found his way to the bench at mid-season, mainly for inconsistent play. It’s all about development for the big and athletic right-handed quarterback. He needs to upgrade his total game from nuts to bolts. The red-shirt junior has good arm strength and running ability when he pulls the ball down. More of a power runner than elusive. Jones demonstrates his lack of patience in the pocket and will flush too early. Needs to work on his deep ball accuracy. He has all the arm he needs. Gets lazy in his drop back mechanics in the pocket and when rolling out of the pocket where he doesn’t reset his feet consistently. Inconsistent to step into his throws which affects his accuracy. Holds the ball too long. Lacks consistent anticipation. Needs to mature in the classroom. Was easily fooled by blitzes and coverage adjustments. Decision making needs to improve. An athletically gifted quarterback with rare physical tools, especially his arm strength. At this point he is more thrower than passer. A quarterback that did not always throw with his hand on the laces. On the plus side, he can drive the ball down the middle of the field. At times on his deep ball he can put air under it for the receivers. Stands tall in the pocket and has the strength to take hits and shake off tacklers. Decent accuracy in the short perimeter game. Demonstrates flashes of an NFL future starter if he pays the price to be great. 2015 stats: 110/176, 1460 yds, 62.5%, 8 TD, 5 INT, 193 yds rushing, 2 TD, 141.5 QB rating. Ball velocity - DNP. OSR:4/18. Third/fourth round. (A-33 3/4, H-9 3/4, SS-DNP, VJ-36).
