Ourlads' Profile:
2017 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about DORIAN JOHNSON: Pittsburgh, 6047 300 5.29. Three-year starter at left guard from Belle Vernon, PA. The former blue chip recruit began his career as a tackle, but was moved inside and blossomed into a first-team All- America by the end of his career. Plays in a pro style offense in a three point stance and comes off the ball with a flat back. A good athlete with foot quickness and change of direction. Plays with good body control and balance recovery. Gives an explosive pop to the down defender or a standup linebacker. Does a good job pushing the linebacker past the hole. An effective pass blocker who bends his knees and plays square with a good base. Sets quickly and gets his hands up quickly. Locks out and controls the bull rush with good use of hands and anchor strength. Effective when he pulls, folds, log blocks, or kicks out targets. Drives his feet on contact. Can move the down defender on the goal line. Good lateral agility. Can quick position a defender with base leverage. Plays with functional play strength and balance. Rarely on the ground. Plays with attitude and aggression. Leverage isn’t always there. Plays too high and will leave himself prone to double moves. Lacks awareness and will be late to react to blitzes and stunts. Doesn’t consistently move guys out of the way. Needs to gain core strength. Suffered an ankle injury in his final college game, forcing him to miss Senior Bowl. Has the frame and foot quickness to excite any team when pondering his long term potential. Has all the tools to be the top guard in the class. Showed several glimpses of dominance across the board and proved he could be the guy a team relies on week in, week out. With some added man-strength and power, he could be a perennial Pro Bowler. OSR:21/41. Third/fourth round. (A-35 1/4, H-10 7/8, BP-21, 10-1.82).
