Fantasy football week four could be best described as ‘The Week of the Quarterback,’ with players like Jameis Winston, Marcus Mariota, Matt Stafford, and Jacoby Brissett having Pro Bowl-type quality starts. If you had anyone of these players in your starting lineup, you won your Week 4 match-up. While James Conner and Emmanuel Sanders, among others, may not be available this week for fantasy football team owners, your waiver wire in Week 5 should still be filled with a few quality players if you need the help.In fact, this week is about scouring the fantasy football waiver wire for players that just need to be owned, especially in deeper leagues.

Don’t add a player to your fantasy football team if you don’t need one.

QUARTERBACKS

1          Matt Stafford, Lions (Bye Week 5)

2          Mason Rudolph, Steelers

3          Daniel Jones, Giants

4          Gardner Minshew, Jaguars

5          Kyle Allen, Panthers

6          Marcus Mariota, Titans

7          Joe Flacco, Ravens

8          Chase Daniel, Bears

9          Andy Dalton, Bengals

CUT: Mitch Trubisky, Bears

Mason Rudolph has looked good through two starts for the injured Ben Roethlisberger. While he hasn’t thrown for much yardage, he has thrown for multiple touchdowns and gets a decent match-up against a Ravens defense that hasn’t all too tough this season. He’s worthy of a back-up quarterback or QB2 in two quarterback fantasy football leagues or for the super-flex position.

Chase Daniel is in prime position if he gets some good starts over the next few weeks. The Bears offense looked alive with him under center.

RUNNING BACKS

  • Jordan Howard, Eagles
  • Darrell Williams, Chiefs
  • Jaylen Samuels, Steelers
  • Ronald Jones, Buccaneers

5          Frank Gore, Bills

CUT: Peyton Barber, Buccaneers; Duke Johnson, Texans

All of the above referenced running backs should be rostered. Jaylen Samuels is a great add if James Connor misses time. In any case, he should still be rostered as the Steelers worked magic with their offensive play-calling on Monday night suggesting a season long role for Samuels.

Wide Receivers

1          Courtland Sutton, Broncos

2          Phillip Dorsett, Patriots

3          Cole Beasley, Bills

4          Mohamed Sanu, Falcons

5          AJ Brown, Titans

6          DeVante Parker, Dolphins

CUT: John Ross, Bengals; Randall Cobb, Cowboys; Dede Westbrook, Jaguars

Courtland Sutton, Cole Beasley, and Mohamed Sanu have simply been solid this season. No denying them a roster spot at this point.

Tight Ends

1          Tyler Eifert, Bengals

2          Jimmy Graham. Packers

3          Ricky Seals-Jones, Browns

4          Vernon Davis, Redskins

5          Jack Doyle, Colts

6          Jason Witten, Cowboys

With John Ross going down to injury, Tyler Eifert should directly benefit until AJ Green comes back sometime in the near future.

Defenses

1          Eagles (v. Jets)

2          Patriots (v. Redskins)

3          Titans (v. Bills)

4          Bills (v. Titans)

5          Saints (v. Buccaneers)

6          Cardinals (v Bengals)

These defenses each play teams that have either struggled in one of the first three weeks of the season or are having problems producing offense due to injuries or poor play. Any defense playing the Dolphins is a solid play this season. Unfortunately, the Dolphins have a week five bye.
